Welcome to this newsletter, which I share towards the end of each month - a little boost for your well-being, with a recorded practice for you to listen to in your own time and space.
I hope this letter finds you well on this very last day of April💫
How has the month been for you? As always, I would invite you to take a moment for a little internal weather check - how are you feeling right now, in both your mind and body?
Perhaps you had a full Easter break with your family, or maybe you have just been enjoying the Spring season in all its beauty. However you are feeling today, please remember: you are doing well, and you are enough - just as you are.
This month, I would love to share with you a breathing technique I have personally been coming back to a lot lately.
It is called square breathing.
Have you heard of it before? Maybe you have even practised it yourself?
If so, you may have been guided to use a count of 4 - breathing in for 4, holding your breath with full lungs for 4, breathing out for 4 and finally holding with empty lungs for 4. Repeating this sequence for as long as feels right.
As a Sophrology Practitioner, I guide this practice a little differently. Instead of sticking to a set count, I invite you to explore and find the rhythm that works for you - here and now.
Today, that might mean breathing in for 2, holding for 2, out for 2 and pausing for 2. Or perhaps 3. Or even no counting at all - simply finding an even pattern for each part of the breath. After all, we are aiming for a square - balanced and steady.
